Thanksgiving 2017 will be a memorable one for my family as it was our "first Thanksgiving in the new cottage." It was also the first Thanksgiving Geoff got to celebrate with my Dad's side of the family (last year we were at our friend Sean and Monica's wedding so we devoured a Swiss Chalet Festive Special that Sunday)
It's usually pretty chilly at Norway Bay this time of year but we weren't complaining about the unseasonably warm "coat-less" weather plus the most stunning sunset we'd seen all summer!
Thanksgiving (to me) is about taking the time to slowwww dowwwwn. In our busy lives, there are never enough moments where you get to gather with your family and actively go around the table to outwardly express what you're thankful for. There's something about expressing gratitude OUT LOUD that validates it more. Thanksgiving just always makes me reflect and re-set for the future.
This year (as with every year, but especially this one): I'm thankful for the people and places that fill me up !
I ditched my cell phone for the weekend (no texts, no social media scrolls etc) and it was THE GREATEST. Every so often I get that familiar tug to retreat and hibernate for a bit...this is one of those times! Lots of people have told me this isn't a healthy, balanced approach to life, but for me I've learned that I need to do things in an "all or nothing" fashion. Otherwise, I'm trying to do a million little things, all at 10%, and nothing TANGIBLE or TRUE actually ever gets done. My little Thanksgiving test reminded me just how much LIGHTER I am without being attached to any sort of device.
It feels silly to "announce" a phone detox but in our digital world, I don't want my friends and family to think I'm GHOSTING them haha. I'll be back in a little bit... maybe a few weeks.. maybe a month... but for now I'm going with what my gut is telling me and that's to enter hibernation station.
LOVE YOU ALL LOTS & LOTS !!!! Talk sooooooon !!!!
