My friend Tasha recently launched a lifestyle blog to showcase her love for travel, interior design, entertaining, cooking and wine.
She lives in THE CUTEST loft on King Street West in Toronto with her boyfriend, Cam. (Apartment OWNERS in their mid-twenties, ain't that impressive?!) The floor-to-ceiling book shelf beside the kitchen is my favourite part of their digs (but only if I had to choose. The refurbished bar, sliding barn doors, framed chalkboard, their own photography on the walls and the Eames chair are all top contenders)
Aside from working a demanding, full-time job at RBC, Tasha still makes time for the little things that make her happy. With a hectic work schedule it's all too easy to let your interests and hobbies fall by the wayside.
I remember coming home from a long day at work, forcing myself to go to the gym (or sometimes foregoing it altogether) and then collapsing onto my couch to watch a mind-numbing reality TV show before bed. Eventually, I started to go STIR CRAZY. I had no energy to do anything that I liked anymore. When you're not doing things that fill you up with genuine happiness it can seep negatively into other areas of your life, and no one wants to feel like a tired slug all the time!
"On the side," Tasha is working towards her Level 3 Sommelier (she's my go-to wine connoisseur!) - is the hostest with the mostest (an elaborate cheese spread, fresh flowers, water with lemon and Diptyque candles are always present when you enter her home and your wine glass is seemingly bottomless as she magically re-fills it just when it starts to dip low) - she's always whipping up new, healthy recipes in the kitchen - coming up with decorating details for her apartment (a Pinterest-ers dream!) - and she still makes time for books, fitness and seeing her Nanny, parents and black lab, Astro, in Oakville (and her sister, Laura, in Calgary!)
I honestly don't know how she does it all. When we both lived in Switzerland, a lot of our trips wouldn't have happened without her impeccable organizational skills and keen eye for unique things to see/do. She's translated all of that into her new Toronto life. It's a real treat to see! Nothing better than peeking into your friends' lives and seeing them happy. Really, truly, authentically, happy.
Fun Fact: My friend Lexi McKenna (aka. Sexy Lexi, which she doesn't like me to call her so sorry in advance for calling you Sexy Lexi and for just doing it again a second time) is an insanely talented Graphic Designer (not even trying to hide my bias, not even a little) who created Tasha's mix media logo. (ps. Lex makes stationary dreams come true at Paper & Poste in Toronto, has the COOLEST family and a presh pug named Tyson)
