I love, love, LOVE live music. Instant mood booster and the best way to spend a night out with friends (or family - my parents & sisters are pretty cool cats, we had the best time checking out Coachella together)
Lots of great bands come through Boston, so I've tried to catch a few here and there (I have zero qualms about going to live shows by myself yet I can't muster up the courage to eat alone at a restaurant).
One of the TA's for my Digital Media Journalism class moonlights as a sound technician at The Sinclair in Cambridge. It's a really small venue in Harvard Square (I love it there). He gave me the low down on the best places if you're ever in town.
Best Live Music Spots in Boston:
While my cousin Christine was visiting last weekend, we caught Lord Huron at Paradise Rock Club (Hamilton Leithauser opened). I'd seen them previously at Celebrate Brooklyn (outdoors) but watching them in a small, intimate setting was LIFE CHANGING. I think it might have been the best show I've ever been to (and I don't like to throw that around lightly). If you can catch them on their latest Strange Trails tour, your earbuds will be so happy!
Between the Lonesome Dreams and Strange Trails albums, each song was better than the next. Christine and I couldn't stop smiling and shaking our tailfeathas the whole night.
Lonesome Dreams Album
Time to Run is probably my favourite from Lonesome Dreams (if I had to choose, but they're ALL good!)
Strange Trails Album
Here's some iPhone clips (not the best quality) I snapped at Paradise Rock Club last weekend:
