I bought this book a couple weeks ago at The Harvard Bookstore (they had it so beautifully displayed by the check-out counter and I'm a sucker for anything written by J.K. Rowling).
The book contains the full commencement address that she delivered at Harvard in 2008.
For some reason, getting that e-mail this morning prompted me to watch the entire 20 minute speech online again (she makes a Hogwarts reference within the first two minutes so you know it's going to be good).
If you have some spare time, I promise you it's worth watching. Her insights on the benefits of failure and the importance of imagination will make you stop and think. She's such a master story-teller, it's hard not to be drawn in by her words of wisdom.
This year's commencement speaker is Deval Patrick, former Massachusetts Governor & Harvard Alumnus. (I'm sure he's a cool guy and all, but I was kind of disappointed J.K. Rowling or Oprah weren't slated for a repeat appearance).
In exactly 13 days my family and I will be sitting in the audience, listening to a similar speech. With Rowling's words in mind, I look forward to the "next chapter" (excuse the cheesy cliché) now that this life-long dream of mine is coming true.
